The horrendous depiction of war that Klimov creates is unique in the history of cinema. There is no plot, only a terrifying wandering in the nature, as the boy comes face to face with constant terrorizing and horrendous scenarios. Heroisms and sacrifices do not exist, nor inspiring speeches that excite the people to resist and fight the enemy. There is only the unexpected, death, violence and victims! A poem of a nightmare, relentlessly grim, deeply disturbing, and made unquestionably more dread-inducing by the fact that almost everything depicted really happened, it is a depressing but necessary reminder of one of the darkest chapters in human history. Idi i Smotri also manages to be both poetic and realistic and that is a supreme accomplishment on the part of the director.
The film depicts real and surreal images that only war can justify. Transporting us back to World War II setting with its aptly-chosen locations and era-appropriate set pieces Alexei Rodionov's documentarian cinematography incorporates a lot of steady-cam and captures the events without any interruptions by employing long takes, and stands as one of the best films to use it as extensively as this one does, while desaturated colour tones add an urgency and bleak feel to its aura. The imagery at times is darkly psychedelic and truly arouses a sense of fear within the viewer because Fliora's surroundings are often made to seem out of this world. Such an image is the one where a soldier of the resistance, using mud, pieces of wood and a Nazi uniform, creates a German soldier totem. The widows and the mothers attack the totem and destroy it in a primitive act of violence and catharsis. There are moments in which the film is depicted through the eyes of the protagonist, and all sounds collapse into oblivion, reinforcing his deafness after the bombs' explosions.
Come and See is one of the most affecting and confrontational war films ever made. The majority of war films claiming to be anti-war, show heroic acts with weapons and very capable soldiers that can save the day. Come and see does not offer such relief and comfort. It shows that in the war there are only victims. Though no one could possibly describe the experience of watching Come and See as a fun time, the film is nonetheless a masterpiece, worthy of consideration as not just the best war movie ever made, but also one of the greatest films ever made. Come and See is an enduring landmark of Soviet cinema whose potency and relevance will never be diminished by the test of time.

Hol a kamerába egyenesen belebámuló szereplők teátrális gesztusai, hol a didaktikus mondatok, hol pedig a szánalmasan túlerőltetett melodramatikusság zökkent ki az élményből, a túlzásba vitt költőiség egyenesen komikus ( ismerős? ), mintsem mély. t De a produkció nem csak ilyen téren borzasztóan ügyetlen, hanem technikai szempontból is. Az éjszakai jelenetekben világító kék ég, vagy a hangkeverésnek a legnagyobb jóindulattal sem nevezhető zajáradat a hangsávon egy jobb érzésű filmnézőre folyamatosan a frászt hozza. Nehéz érzékletesen leírni azt a szintű igénytelenséget, amikor például egy dialógusnak csak az egyik oldalára van felkeverve a háttérzaj (amely egyébként is térben meglehetősen ad-hoc jelleggel van elhelyezve), a szereplők konstans utószinkronja a legtöbb esetben csúszik, az effektek nagy része pedig fülsiketítően torz. Azonban amennyire borzasztó hangilag, annyira lenyűgöző képileg a film, a hosszú vágatlan jelenetek kézikamerázása egyetlen felesleges mozdulat és beleremegés nélkül fut, nem egyszer igen komoly tömegjeleneteket véve fel tökéletesen - könnyen elképzelhető, hogy ez a stílus eredményezte az iszonyatos hangsávot. Az viszont tény, hogy a háború lármájának kakofóniája, a végtelen kameramozgások, és a hasonlóan látszólag soha véget nem érő, céltalan cselekmény képesek egy olyan transzba juttatni a nézőt, amilyenbe főhősünk is egyre inkább kerül. Más kérdés, mennyire tudatos, és mennyire mondható a borzalmak érzékletes átadásának, hogy a néző is hihetetlenül elkeseredetten várja a két és fél órás játékidő végét. Nagyon szeretnék hatásos és zsigeri erejű műként tekinteni a Jöjj és lásd! -ra, de a nevetséges, illetve nevetségesen amatőr pillanatai legalább annyira mélyen belém égtek, mint döbbenetes brutalitása. Just came back from seeing this tonight & must say it was pretty damn good!
The film follows a wealthy man who wants to sell off his marijuana business but the rival gangs & mobsters are trying to steal/sabotage the business & of course kill off the man himself. The film starts off with Fletcher who tells the story like that of a screen play pitch, but this film has more layers than an Onion as more & more revelations to the story start to unfold.
I found the film to be pretty entertaining & enticing. The film features the typical gangster elements seen in other films of its type, mixed in with some humourous & dark moments too. The dialogue & witty banter heard in the film was good. The story telling kept you locked in from start to finish.
While the film is solid, there is a lot of details & plots points going on so prepare yourself when watching as it has many layers to the overall synopsis.
Overall a solid crime thriller. 8/10.

A more mature gangster movie that glorifies the gangster life without glorifying the violence, which means there's a lot of talking, but not much else. Solid performances from the entire cast, but the story wasn't that engaging and the twists weren't that surprising. Good use of humour and style, but the lead up to and inclusion of the 4th wall cameo felt unnecessary.

Was a bit formulaic (eg out of sequence storytelling, fake outs" no, that scene didn't go exactly as you first saw it) loud catchy music, and plot twists (eg Antagonist had a Plan B and C but the protagonist has eyes on the back of his head. Maybe I am being too harsh, but, I did say it was a very good movie and gave it an 8.

Stylistyka plakatu WW nawiązuje do lat 80, ale oczywiście takie dziecko jak ty autorze potrafi tylko skojarzyć to, że kolorowo, to pewnie jak na plakacie Marvela, bravo. Zapowiada się ciekawie. Nigdy nie słyszałam o takim połączeniu jak poważny temat i komedia. Mam nadzieję, że się nie zawiodę. ❤️. Pajac sam oszukany oszukuje reszte- cóż sukcesorów w czasach demokracji nam najebało pod dostatkiem.

This is quite a cleverly interwoven crime story. Hugh Grant is surprisingly good in the role of a sort of camp narrator, as he tries his hand at blackmail by regaling an unflappable Charlie Hunnam with his interpretation of the goings-on around the attempted sale of an empire of ill-gotten gains by a really under-rated Matthew McConaughey, to an even more sexually ambiguous American billionaire. It's funny, mischievous and slick. Colin Farrell doesn't feature extensively, but when he does, he is cool and entertaining. There is a surfeit of Anglo-Saxon which I felt was a touch necessary - after a while it stops being a laugh and starts irritating. At times the script is witty and well paced, but for most of the film there is too little action and much too much verbiage. A good watch, though.

Although I will say that the fire fighter scenes were pretty intense regardless if they were only training or had to attend buildings that were on fire due to fireworks.
I understood this films backdrop involving the feeling of losing someone through drowning and honestly the ending was a near hard hitter for me. However I would have liked if the couples experience together was more in depth because as I said yet again, it was rather rushed. It didn't give much in depth either with the other guy who had a crush on her or if he was going for someone else. Since I'm not gonna say spoilers to telling you who's who, it's best to watch the film.
Animation wise, it was pretty alright. Not amazeballs but it was easy on the eyes at least.
As much as the film did offer a bit of emotion, it's not the ultimate worse or disappointment I've ever seen. However room for improvement is what it definitely definitely needs in terms of story pace development.

Hinako is a surfer, Minato is a firefighter. Both about 20 and they fall in love. Everything is ridiculously perfect, but one day Minato drowns while trying to save someone from the ocean.
Hinako, understandably takes it pretty bad, but to her surprise, whenever she starts singing their favorite song, Minato's spirit appears in the closest body of water - be it a stream, the ocean, or a bottle of mineral water.
The whole story is really about Hinako, Minato's friends and family, and how they slowly but finally learn to "let go.
Of course, it's magical-realism, so in the end we get to witness some crazy action as well, where we surf down a skyscraper with our protagonists.
Unfortunately, this is not the most original story, the characters are a little two dimensional, and the filmmaking could've been a little braver.
It's fine though, the film looks really nice, colorful with constantly glowing orange hues and cool blues. The action looks fantastic as well and the environments feel very "lived in" and detailed. Seeing it on a big screen really adds to the experience.
It is also paced well, has some pretty funny moments, as well as a couple of quite moving ones.
Recommended if you manage to catch it screening somewhere, but not an essential viewing.

It deals with: loss, male and female perspectives of: love, friendship, dating, being married, being married and then being single again, sex issues, anger, happiness, and jealousy. The movie has great dialogue, a beautiful script, the CD soundtracks do not get better than this with classic songs just to name a few: When and Where. It Had to be You. I Could Write a Book. Let's Call the Whole Thing Off. The later recorded by Harry Connick Jr. who is just outstanding!
The acting is invisible, Billy Crystal does a great job and is very believable as Harry (City Slickers. The guy who believes that men and women cannot be friends, and sometimes he is annoying but yet charming in his own way. Meg Ryan (You've Got Mail) is cute as the perfectionist Sally who has all her tapes alphabetized, can order food better anybody else, and admits to being too rigid and structured. Marie, Sally's best friend (Carrie Fisher) is always looking for a man for everybody including herself with her very own personal box of names and addresses; Bruno Kirby (City Slickers) as Jess, thinks that a woman who has a great personality cannot be pretty, is Harry's best friend. Between their conversations of Jesse and Harry there is a whole spectrum of the male perspective about feelings in relationships.
Director Rob Reiner is the best. Mixed Nuts, The American President. I will see any movie that Reiner has anything to do with it and buy the video because there is always something to chew on after I have watched the movie once.
The script is clever! Nora Ephron (Mixed Nuts, Sleepless in Seattle, You've got Mail) just knows how to write a good script! She is brilliant!
My favorite scenes: When Marie is trying her wedding dress on and Sally says: That is beautiful. I feel that she is reflects in her own situation. Those scenes with all those old couples telling how they met and fell in love are precious scenes. Harry getting mad because he was singing in front of Ira! The jealousy of Sally when Emily (Tracy Reiner) comes into the picture, she is Aunt Emily the pie maker. I don't know how many people realize that Tracy is Rob Reiner's daughter. The ending is precious when Harry sees couples around while he window shops alone New Year's Eve, and starts running to tell Sally how he really feels! That is a tearing scene. This is one of my favorites. I highly recommend this movie.
